katie marie bruce is an artist working and living in southern Alberta. A recent graduate from York University, katie's work often includes print, textiles and occasionally sculpture. Her SSHRC funded thesis examined empathy, the affective/affected body, and the intersection of emotional labour and the non-performative labour of objects. Her most recent body of work explores her felt experience of living in a feminized body contrasted against historical treatments of the nude body.

She has presented her work in exhibitions, residencies and conferences across Canada.

recent shows include:

  • “fieldnotes: inhabiting that skin” at the Helen Christou Gallery at the University of Lethbridge, 2020-2021
